Summer Pre-Apprenticeship Program Supervisor

- This position is a temporary appointment with no benefits except those required by law and is not expected to exceed 90 days.

The Summer Pre-Apprenticeship Program Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, supervising, and supporting youth participants throughout RBHC’s 8-week Summer Pre-Apprenticeship Program. This position serves as the primary point of contact for participants, parents/guardians, department mentors, and RBHC leadership to ensure the program is safe, organized, educational, and consistent with RBHC policies and expectations.
The Supervisor will help participants gain meaningful exposure to healthcare careers while reinforcing professionalism, attendance, confidentiality, safety, cultural respect, and career readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision and support for Summer Pre-Apprenticeship participants.
- Coordinate weekly rotations with RBHC departments, including Medical, WINH, Pharmacy, Nursing, Community Health, EMS/Urgent Care, and other assigned areas.
- Ensure participants remain in approved areas and under appropriate supervision at all times.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, professionalism, dress code compliance, and participation.
- Serve as the first point of contact for participant questions, concerns, absences, or behavioral issues.
- Communicate with parents/guardians as needed for participants under age 18.
- Reinforce HIPAA, confidentiality, infection control, safety, and Drug-Free Workplace expectations.
- Document attendance, incidents, concerns, accomplishments, and program participation.
- Coordinate workshops, presentations, tours, career development activities, and the end-of-program showcase.
- Work with department leads to identify appropriate observation and hands-on learning opportunities.
- Ensure participants do not provide independent patient care or perform unauthorized duties.
- Report injuries, exposures, safety concerns, confidentiality concerns, or policy violations immediately through the appropriate RBHC process.
- Assist with onboarding, orientation, program materials, evaluations, and completion documentation.
- Model respectful, professional, and culturally appropriate conduct.
- Support a positive learning environment that encourages participants to explore healthcare careers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education, healthcare, public health, human services, business, or related field preferred.
- Valid Montana Driver's License
- Experience working with youth, students, interns, trainees, or community programs preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare, public health, tribal organization, education, or workforce development setting preferred.
- Ability to supervise youth and young adults in a professional environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate schedules, track attendance, and maintain basic records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and RBHC policies.
- Ability to respond appropriately to behavioral, safety, or professionalism concerns.
- Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, patience, and sound judgment.
- Must successfully complete required background check, drug screening, and onboarding requirements.
- Must be able to work with participants ages 14–24 in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Knowledge of the Chippewa Cree community, tribal health systems, or culturally responsive youth programming preferred.
