Culture/Language Behavioral Health Aide
This position will focus on utilizing Chippewa Cree culture and language to enhance physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. The Behavioral Health Aide will play a crucial role in substance abuse prevention and behavioral health promotion within the Miyo Pimatisiwinkamik.
Major Duties:
- Infuse Chippewa Cree cultural practices and traditions into behavioral health interventions.
- Collaborate with community elders and cultural leaders to incorporate culture.
- Utilize the Chippewa Cree language as a tool for effective communication in therapeutic settings.
- Offer language support.
- Implement culturally relevant strategies for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Develop and facilitate healing circles and other culturally rooted therapeutic activities.
- Design and implement prevention programs addressing substance abuse within the Chippewa Cree community.
- Provide education on the intersection of cultural identity and substance abuse prevention.
- Develop and lead workshops on mental health awareness, stress management, and resilience building within the cultural context.
- Foster a sense of community and support networks for individuals facing behavioral health challenges.
- Partner with the behavioral health providers to help consumers address the social and spiritual factors affecting their wellbeing as indicated by their treatment plan.
- Associates Degree in Human Services, Allied Health, or related field or currently enrolled in degree program or a combination of education and at least two (2) years of experience working in culturally-relevant settings.
- Fluent speaker of Chippewa or Cree
- Basic understanding of and appreciation for the tribal customs, traditions, practices, and the sovereign status of the Chippewa Cree Tribe.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Allied Health, or related field.
- Experience with collaborating with other providers and agencies to provide comprehensive care.
- Expert knowledge of the tribal language, customs, traditions, practices, and the sovereign status of the Chippewa Cree Tribe.
