POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality & Risk Assurance Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive quality improvement, risk management, infection control, and employee health programs. The role ensures regulatory compliance, facilitates education, monitors performance, and leads quality initiatives across all departments. This position also serves as the Stat system administrator, supporting real-time data, patient flow, and clinical efficiency, thereby fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the facility's quality assurance and risk management programs, including internal audits, performance monitoring, and corrective action planning.
  • Oversee the organization’s infection prevention and control program, ensuring compliance with CDC, OSHA, IHS, and AAAHC guidelines.
  • Serve as administrator of the Stat system, supporting real-time location tracking, alert functions, and workflow optimization.
  • Analyze Stat system data and other quality metrics to identify trends, guide decision-making, and produce actionable performance reports.
  • Review and revise organizational policies related to quality, infection control, and employee health; maintain ongoing compliance with all standards.
  • Track adverse events, incidents, and near misses through Healthicity and other reporting mechanisms; lead root cause analysis and follow-up.
  • Develop and deliver in-service education and training for staff on infection prevention, quality improvement, and employee safety protocols.
  • Conduct and schedule routine audits of clinical, environmental, and infection control practices throughout the facility.
  • Manage employee health protocols, including immunizations, exposures, TB screening, and vaccination compliance.
  • Serve on or facilitate key committees, including Quality, Risk, Infection Control, Safety, and Emergency Preparedness.
  • Coordinate AAAHC survey readiness, including documentation, evidence binders, and mock survey activities.
  • Collaborate with Lab, Pharmacy, and medical staff on antibiotic stewardship and other quality initiatives.
  • Integrate infection control planning into emergency preparedness policies and drills.
  • Assist departments with the implementation of performance improvement projects.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated to support the mission and goals of the Rocky Boy Health Center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, Allied Health, or a related field.
  • Two years’ experience in healthcare quality, compliance, or infection control.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, performance improvement tools, and regulatory standards.
  • Proficiency with technology platforms used for data tracking and incident reporting (e.g., Stat.io).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC), or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Experience with Healthicity or similar patient safety/risk management platforms.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, or other process improvement training.
  • Experience in a tribal or rural healthcare setting.
