POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of the Mīyō Pimātisiwinkamik (“Good Life Lodge”) Youth Center is responsible for the strategic, operational, and cultural leadership of a community-based center designed to promote the health, education, cultural identity, and well-being of Indigenous youth. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing partnerships, developing culturally appropriate programs, supervising staff, and ensuring alignment with tribal values, youth priorities, and community health goals.

major duties:
  • Provide executive leadership for the planning, development, and implementation of all center programs and activities.
  • Supervise and support center staff, interns, volunteers, and cultural educators.
  • Develop youth-centered programming that integrates wellness, cultural identity, traditional knowledge, and career/educational development.
  • Coordinate with internal RBHC departments and external partners (e.g., schools, 477 program, daycares, tribal cultural departments).
  • Oversee budget, grant management, and reporting in collaboration with RBHC Finance and Compliance teams and ensure grand conditions and all relevant deliverables are met.
  • Ensure the center meets all AAAHC and IHS-related standards as applicable.
  • Design and implement evaluation methods to assess program effectiveness and youth outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Data & Evaluation Specialist to ensure data collection tools, youth surveys, and outcome tracking align with the Mīyō Evaluation Plan and Harvard framework.
  • Serve as a community liaison, advocate, and spokesperson for the Center.
  • Uphold and promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches in all programs and services.
  • Facilitate youth leadership opportunities such as youth advisory councils, program feedback sessions, and ambassador roles to elevate youth voice in design and decision-making.
  • Lead or co-lead hiring processes for all Mīyō program staff. Develop onboarding plans and performance benchmarks for new hires.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated to support the mission and goals of the Rocky Boy Health Center.
minimum qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in youth programming or community health
  • One (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of Indigenous values, traditions, and community dynamics
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills
 
desired qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience in grant writing or program evaluation
  • Strong knowledge of Chippewa Cree culture, history, and traditions, with proficiency or working understanding of the Cree language preferred.
